The Hoover Dam is definitely an amazing engineering feat. We managed to scope this site out in less than one hour. 104 degree day, sizzling sun, over 100 steps, and melting flip-flops made the decision for us.
The Dam is so big that we couldn't manage to get the entire dam in the frame! There really is water down there!
After begin fried alive in less than an hour at the Dam, we got to cool off by driving through the Mojave Desert. We thought we would never make it...
We thought maybe we were hallucinating; I mean wtf?!
Like that's a real place...
Finally we could enjoy a call and beverage while cooling off in the pool!

Packing the Cube
Wow, apparently all my earthly belongings fit into a 6x7x8 foot "cube". Easy to pack you say, but for those of you that don't know, I have a tempurpedic memory foam mattress and it must be shipped/stored horizontally so that means that the "cube" needs to be packed level'ly so that we could put the mattress atop.
Cy did a great job...
But... (okay, you knew there had to be a "but")
The Lazy-Boy (smartly wrapped I should add) needed to be packed... ugh. To add to our joy, being in Phoenix in late July provided us with just the weather to lose about 5 pounds during the process; it reached 111 degrees today! (Not bad, really.)
Note: Seattle had a record temperature of 102! At least we had a "dry heat". Yeah, right...
But alas, Cy is the super paackkerrrr! and success was achieved!
Yay!

Summer Heat
Well, the heat wave has finally arrived here in Arizona. Just in time for packing a Relo-Cube under the Phoenix sun. With temperatures reaching close to 115 degrees, the exodus from the desert will be most welcome. I'm on my way to the Pacific Northwest where cooler days await. My friend, Cy, is making the trek with me and arrives Tuesday night-- then we get the job of packing the Cube; that will be most interesting... a huge 3D tetris game as my sister, Vy, says. I'm not sure we'll be earning the bonus points...
